The Tudor Revival Foot Soak

Our most popular foot soak is The Tudor Revival.  It derives its name in honor of the Tudor Revival architectural style of the historic Hotel Roanoke.

Its ingredients include Lavender and Lemongrass essential oils. These herbs are known for easing stress and anxiety, promoting restful sleep, and soothing skin. Blended with Kaolin clay, mineral-rich Dead Sea salt, local Blue Ridge Mountain salt, and sprinkled with fragrant dried Lavender flowers.

Learn more about these healing natural ingredients.

Lavender Essential Oil

The origin of Lavender is believed to be from the Mediterranean, Middle East, and India. Its history goes back 2,500 years. Lavender is a flowering plant of the mint family known for its beauty, its sweet floral fragrance, and its multiple uses.

The ancient Greeks called Lavender, nardus, after the Syrian city of Naarda and considered it one of the holy herbs. The Romans used Lavender to scent their baths, beds, clothes, and hair. They also discovered its medicinal properties.

In addition to its wonderful fragrance, Lavender essential oil has other benefits.

• Helps with relaxation

Kaolin Clay

Kaolin clay or China clay is a gentle and moisturizing clay with many skincare benefits. The name “Kaolin” originates from “Kaoling,” a hill in China from where this clay was first mined. This clay is used for making porcelain as well as health and wellness purposes.

Kaolin clay is white and has a very soft texture. It is rich in the mineral “Kaolinite." Kaolin clay has a neutral pH and is rich in silica dioxide. Kaolin clay does not dry your skin, it makes it soft and healthy. Kaolin clay is ideal for use on dry, sensitive, and mature skin.

Kaolin clay has multiple benefits when used topically.

•  Helps control oiliness
•  A natural detoxifier and exfoliator
•  Soothes rashes and irritation

Dead Sea Salt

The Dead Sea is the saltiest body of water on earth.  Its salt content has been measured several times more concentrated compared to other oceans, seas, and lakes in most parts of the world.

Minerals found in Dead Sea salts are magnesium, calcium, iodine, zinc, bromide, potassium, and sulfur. These minerals are very similar to the minerals found in skin cells. Dead Sea salts help keep skin healthy, nourished, and young-looking.

The benefits of using Dead Sea salts lead to more rejuvenated and healthy-looking skin.

• Cleaning and exfoliating the skin.
• Rids toxins from the skin and helps promote circulation.
• Firms skin tissues and strengthen against infections.
• Helps skin ailments and lessens inflammation of dry skin.
• Relieves muscle tension, lessens stress, and anxiety.

Blue Ridge Mountain Salt

The Blue Ridge Mountains formed over 400 million years ago. The mountain range extends 550 miles southwest from southern Pennsylvania south to Alabama.  Roanoke, Virginia is nestled with these Blue Ridge Mountains.

Most of the rocks within the Blue Ridge Mountains are ancient granitic charnockites, metamorphosed volcanic formations, and sedimentary limestone.

Use of the minerals and salt found within and extracted from the Blue Ridge Mountains has played a significant part in our country's history and used for many purposes.  We include a bit of Blue Ridge Mountain salt in every soak at the Salt Foot Sanctuary.
